…corporate enrichment for inaction? all hail the conquering us hero…

…anybody remembers lanny breuer? qed…

It was patently obvious. Yet, most elsewhere would know what most in the US chose to ignore. US democracy is a fiction, a fraud perpetrated on a distracted population. Prof William Black had constantly highlighted the signal failures of the Obama administration to hold financial transgressors to account, to prosecute them. Aside stacking regulatory and enforcement agencies with industry representatives, the US administration would function to promote and serve the interests of corporate and financial interests at the expense of the voters, the populace.

Thanks to the blogs and alternative media, the information is there for even the slightly curious. The news that comes holds little surprise. Thanks to The Intercept, we learn, Eric Holder Returns as Hero to Law Firm That Lobbies for Big Banks. And more, as confirmation of expectation than surprise,

The move completes one of the more troubling trips through the revolving door for a cabinet secretary. Holder worked at Covington from 2001 right up to being sworn in as attorney general in Feburary 2009. And Covington literally kept an office empty for him, awaiting his return.

The Covington & Burling client list has included four of the largest banks, including Bank of America, Citigroup, JP Morgan Chase, and Wells Fargo. Lobbying records show that Wells Fargo is still a client of Covington. Covington recently represented Citigroup over a civil lawsuit relating to the bank’s role in Libor manipulation.

Further rewards would continue to flow in for being such loyal servants. On leaving office the US President should expect even more substantial rewards, and from many sources – after all, who can forget that dash to Saudi Arabia to ‘offer condolences’ for the death of its king. The fig leaf of democracy in the US is clearly an opportunity to ride a gravy train to massive wealth, platitudes and all.

…professional responsibilities abandoned for a higher purpose, self-interest or other?…
