…utter fraudulence of us msm exposed by citizen ‘nobodies’?…

…the control of the message slipping out of their grasp – too slowly, but at long last?…

The Baltimore Matter brought to light very uncomfortable truths about the US – the belief that a festering problem is non-existent once the politicians and, implicitly, the cooperating media ignore it.

As the famous (?) ‘talking heads’ proceeded to lecture the miscreant invisibles who had the audacity to appear in human (?) form, embarrassing surprises would await. Here we have that classic interview that went not the way as planned. And we have, common dreams, one of the blogs that would not disappoint, with the very aptly titled, Broken Windows, Broken Spines. Here we are treated to the total demolition of a condescending, preening voice of the status quo. A sample that indicts the ‘talking head’ and CNN,

The official agenda was to portray the protesters as terrorists.

“Yeah, and there’s no excuse for the seven people that the Baltimore City Police Department killed in the last year either, right?” Mckesson answered, flipping the interview on its head.

[snip]

The back-and-forth between Blitzer and Mckesson went on for four minutes, with the anchorman continuing to assume he was in control, continuing to pester Mckesson about the damage wrought by protesters. “We’re not making comparisons,” he said, dismissing the police violence. “Obviously, we don’t want anybody hurt. But I just want to hear you say that there should be peaceful protests, not violent protests, in the tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King.”

Of course, Blitzer is one of those ‘civil rights advocates’ who know to quote King only up to his ‘I have a dream…’ speech, no further. But, we return to this ‘nonentity’ Mckeeson in the presence of such an overpaid, overbearing tv personality,

“And you are making a comparison. You are suggesting this idea that broken windows are worse than broken spines, right? . . . The violence the police have been inflicting on communities of color has been sustained and deep.

“And I also know that Freddie Gray will never be back. And those windows will be.”

The patronising attitude is similarly apparent, as a ‘citizen journalist’ would show, with the tables being turned on another tv ‘superstar’ who also knows well how to dismiss the humanity and complaints of the affected who have the audacity to demand a modicum of respect. From AlJazeera, non-establishment media, Citizens rise up against corrupt media. An excerpt,

Standing on the streets of Baltimore to cover what his employer Fox News was calling a “riot,” Geraldo Rivera found himself at the receiving end of a passionate and articulate lecture from Kwame Rose on skewed, sensationalist and racist media coverage. As Rose attempted to engage Rivera in a conversation, the reporter kept walking away, refusing to even make eye contact. The episode was captured on video, uploaded and went viral. Rose became a sensation. Rivera would later intone that Rose’s actions represented “exactly that kind of youthful anarchy that led to the destruction and pain in that community.”

Professor of Journalism Christensen, the author, then observes,

When people such as Rose, McKesson and Mosby question dominant media storylines on race, they not only challenge the facts as presented by CNN or Fox News; they are also peeling away the veneer of journalistic objectivity and questioning the power of all media companies to define events in broad and stereotypical terms, regardless of the consequences those definitions might have for those who remain in Ferguson and Baltimore after the cameras have been turned off and the reporters have left.

(But for the tragic death and protests, there would have been no federal or other investigation into the conduct of the Baltimore Police, or police elsewhere? Surely, something is awry in this?)

And, as added bonus comes the report, ACLU Will Represent Two Colorado Springs Men Victimized by Racially-Biased Policing. The two men, black, in question were arrested, but one would video record the entire episode, an episode which would have otherwise been ‘interpreted’ differently, would have never occurred – but for the video recorded evidence. Yet the police would behave this way, unconcerned, undeterred by evidence of the recording? This ‘audacity’ business is really, really becoming contagious?

Such initiatives, concerned citizens, blogs and alternative media, should go a long way to exposing US citizens to realities long known by most outside.

…us propaganda, on the backfoot? and on a related mater, no, as historians and others would note, hollywood and john wayne did not win ww ii
