…shock, yes; awe, no…

…tenacity and teamwork…

As they say, ‘Many a slip twixt the cup…’. The Black Stars against the US? No contest. Third meeting, at least three goals! That would have been so, if the US were not a team, and a tenacious one at that. And that was sufficient for the shock to Ghana with its galaxy of stars that performed as a team only sporadically, and when it did there was that nettlesome US defense, yet it did with solid success when its teamwork appeared. But why Prince Boateng brought on so late, would be the question of many an even mediocre arm-chair expert (and others).

And, yes, quite a merry party of US team supporters, and quite sizeable at that, considering a country whose oftimes ill-informed US MSM is jingoistically ecstatic in coverage only if the team wins.

So it is a clinical Germany for the unfortunate loser, and a confused Portugal for the US. The question then, Germany and the US advance? Just a joke, Cristiano. Or is it?…
