…terra nullius…especially if indigenous?…

…part of the news is good, but that dénouement still lurks…

From Paraguay some news for the indigenous, and lands so customarily seized from them (and peasants) – along with their lives, Aprueban en Paraguay expropiación de tierras en favor de indígenas del Chaco

So some of the lands seized from the perennially dispossessed indigenous are to be returned – so far. The decision has to be approved by the Chamber of Deputies. Thank heavens for small mercies…

By way of contrast, one should remember all those lands the Bush lot owns down that way?

Thanks to Mark Thoma over at economists blog, we have this discussion on inequality hosted at the Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY). Discussants: Durlauf, Milanovic, Stiglitz, Krugman, Piketty.

Thomas Piketty’s, chef d’oeuvre,  Capital in the Twenty-First Century is the subject. Strong returns on the investment of time.

Neat for Easter. A related link shows Shakira and family, as she and her dad collaborate on a recording, Shakira y su padre, William Mebarak, graban “Hay Amores” / Shakira & her dad record ‘Hay Amores”
